Recent Developments As of September 2008
Submitted by intramis on Thu, 09/25/2008 - 03:17.I would like to announce some changes and updates to the Intramis portal. Our founding co-organizer of Intramis, Prof. Jorge Schment, has relocated from Penn State to Rutgers University, where he is now Dean of the School of Information, Communication and Library Science. Prof. Schement has been followed as co-Director of the Penn State Institute for Information Policy by Prof. Amit Schejter of Penn State.
The Intramis portal for information metrics studies is in the process of being updated. New links have been added to papers and reports appearing online up to August 2008. The bibliography has been updated through August 2008. If you would like to propose any additions to the links or bibliography, please forward them to me.
Several scholars have been added as “Affiliated Researchers”. If you would like to be included, please send me a note with additional information about yourself and your interests. We are also interested in finding partners for theory building and exchange of ideas. Our near future plans include creating a workspace where people can post work-in-progress, or make invite comments or place requests for assistance.
A recent paper, “Measuring the Impact of ICT: Theories of Information and Development” by Prof. Taylor, presented at the Telecommunications Policy Research Conference on September 28, 2008, can be found at the following link: http://www.intramis.net/TPRC_files/TPRC%2008%20Taylor-Zhang%20Final.pdf.
We are looking into the possibility of adding a section devoted to papers on this topic in Chinese, or by Chinese scholars, in cooperation with Prof. Bin Zhang at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
We are developing a listserv of scholars in this field, as well as those who have visited this website, and will be sending out a “probe” to see if they are interested in being carried on the list for future announcements and information.
As always, any comments and suggestions are welcomed. Kindly address to rdt4@psu.edu. Thank you.
